HOPE ALLEY

Hi!

My name is Hope Alley and I am a current senior on the UC Berkeley (PAC-12) softball team. I am from Pleasanton, CA and I went to Foothill High School where I was a 3x First Team All EBAL, 3x First Team All Bay Area, 2x First Team All NCS, and 2x All State recipient. I played travel ball for Sorcerer Softball where I was ranked 59 in the class of 2019 and was the 23 ranked infielder in my class. I was also selected to play in the PGF All American game on ESPN my senior year.

My collegiate journey began at the University of Pittsburgh (ACC) where I was the starting short stop as a freshman until the pandemic hit. After transferring to Cal I unfortunately suffered a UCL tear during an intersquad scrimmage two weeks before my first season there and had to undergo Tommy John surgery. As a result I found myself diversifying to other positions such as 2B and outfield in order to preserve my arm health. I have a very strong passion for defense and as a result of my diversity on the field my defensive knowledge is extremely comprehensive.

Because of my journey with injury, I also have a passion for arm care/injury prevention and proper throwing mechanics. In todays world of athletics, injuries are at an all time high and luckily this is preventable! My mission is to provide young athletes with the knowledge they need in order to prevent throwing injuries before they happen and sustain their arms through the entirety of their softball careers.

On a personal note, I am a Spanish major and am looking to pursue a masters in Counseling Psychology after my graduation from Cal. I am also the president/founder of Athletes in Medicine at Cal and a core team member of Athletes in Action. I am a huge proponent for the holistic development of the person inside of the athlete and have a strong dedication for helping people realize their identity inside and outside of the confines of their sport.

Softball is a game that I love and I am super excited to share that love and passion with the next generation of college softball players!
